Appreciated not only by the Romanians, but also by tourists from Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Great Britain, or even from countries on other continents, Poiana Brașov is currently the most complex ski resort in Romania, similar in many respects to famous mountain resorts such as Chamonix, Zakopane or Cortina D’Ampezzo.
After the modernization in 2010, the ski area in Poiana Brașov was expanded from 50 hectares to 80 hectares, the total length of the slopes increasing from 13.8 km to 23.9 km.
The Poiana Lake, which can be explored in summer by boat or by water bicycle, the resort’s swimming pools, sports fields, the riding center, the famous restaurants such as Șura Dacilor, Coliba Haiducilor or Vânătorul, Capra Neagră or Favorit nightclubs complete the rich touristic treasures in Poiana Brașov.
Winter and Summer
Charming in winter, with its many ski slopes with varying degrees of difficulty, served by modern means of cable transportation, with the Skating Rink and the sledge slopes, Poiana Brașov is an oasis of relaxation during the summer as well, with its shady pine tree forests, with its vast green slopes, only good for hiking or biking.
Strong ozonated air, free of dust and particles that may cause allergies, relatively low atmospheric pressure and intense ionization are the natural factors that recommend the resort for the treatment of endocrine or respiratory diseases, for relief of asthenic neurosis, secondary anemia, exhaustion, or burnout.
In the Heart of the Country, in the Heart of the Mountains
Poiana Brașov is located right in the center of Romania, near the city of Brașov, at an altitude of 1,030 m above sea level, at the foot of the northern slope of the Postavaru Massif (1,799 m), surrounded by the Bucegi Mountains (2,505 m), Piatra Craiului (2,238 m ) and Piatra Mare (1,848 m).
From wherever you may come, you can easily reach Poiana Brașov by car, through Brașov or through Râșnov, driving about 12 km on the mountain roads.
The Proper Climate for Holidays
The climate in Poiana Brașov is temperate-continental, with snow lasting almost 4 months a year, from December to March, the snow layer measuring on average 50-60 cm in Poiana and about 100 cm up on the mountain — so winter sports can be practiced here for a long time.
The summer in Poiana Brașov is pleasant and cool, so you can take refuge here from the heat waves in the plain. The autumn is mild, you can fully enjoy hiking in the surrounding mountains, starting with the Postavaru Massif and continuing with Bucegi Mountains, Piatra Craiului, or Piatra Mare.
